There are a lot of great belief systems out there when taking a stance on lawns. For example, one very simple belief is that grass contributes greatly to the beauty of a property, and it is very important to work with a trusted Lawn Care Company to achieve excellent results. Without abandoning these beliefs (because our Lawn Care Company holds onto that belief quite firmly đŸ˜‰), we are simply going take a brief step outside of our limited, personal beliefs for a moment to see what the world of science can teach us through objective observations when it comes to the ways we view lawns.

A lot of us aren’t used to viewing lawns as thousands of tiny oxygen-producing plants grouped together into a big cluster, but oddly enough, that’s exactly what they are! Each tiny little grass plant throughout our yards ‘breathes in’ carbon dioxide from the air and ‘breathes out’ oxygen, just as all plants do. We then breathe in that oxygen for our survival and breathe out CO2 for its survival. This cycle continue day in and day out.  And, if your lawn is healthy, it is hyper-efficient at this oxygen production. In fact, if you have a healthy lawn, it will only take a very small area of that lawn (only about 25 square feet to be exact!) to produce enough oxygen to meet the daily needs of one adult. Think of how many breaths you take in one day, and you will find that statistic and efficiency to be pretty remarkable!

A healthy lawn is not only great at filtering the air and providing us oxygen – it goes even deeper than that… down to the soil structure to be exact. It’s no question that the healthy grasses that are providing so many unseen benefits in the air for us are only able to do so because they are being produced by very healthy and well-nourished soils beneath them. When soils are properly nourished and maintained through excellent Lawn Care, the grasses also then spread their healthiness back into the soil and encourage beneficial microorganisms within it. In summary, proper lawn care nourishes the soil, the nourished soil produces healthy grass, and when the healthy grass’s life cycle is over, it gives that healthy organic matter back to the soil for it to build upon and improve its structure with for the future grass plant generations.

So, now we can hold both our firm belief in the value of maintaining beautiful lawns and understand the somewhat strange, but scientific (and very vital!), benefits behind maintaining lush lawns!
